Last Call : Grabpay Top-up

Amex cards are the last cards that provides miles/ cashback for Grabpay topup. Even after Grabpay nerf AXS payments, I still use it for merchants that only accept Paynow QR code payments.  However, Amex has announced at the start of March that there will be no more cashback awarded for Grabpay wallet topups with effect from 4 April 2023.

So this is a reminder to top-up your Grabpay wallets to cater for your next 1-2 months spending. We will need to buffer a few days for transaction posting as well. Too much will not be advisable especially in this high interest rate environment.

So.. What's next?

After this nerf, only UOB's Absolute Cashback card's 0.3% cashback is left. I will probably still use it to top-up my Grabpay wallet since no fish prawn also good in this case probably shrimp. I am also still using this card to pay for my kid's MOE Kindergarten school fees for the 1.7% cashback.

Another use case will be using the top-up to hit the minimum spending on some cards that we have difficulty hitting. We can consider this since the opportunity cost is only 0.3%. I will try out some cards and update here.
